To be considered for an interview, individuals applying for a Teacher position must submit a resume, application, a copy of transcripts, and if applicable, a copy of the Educational Technician or 282 certification.
Teacher
This individual is responsible for planning, implementing, and documenting an effective, comprehensive child development program and developing and maintaining partnerships with families. All services must be provided and documented accurately, in compliance with Federal and State Standards and as outlined in the agency’s Operations Plan.
Minimum Requirements:
This individual must have a minimum of an AA degree in Early Childhood Education or a degree in a related field and teaching experience with children ages 0-5. BS in Early Childhood Education and a full 282 Endorsement Birth to School Age Five preferred. Experience in Human Services helpful. Must be willing to participate in training, possess good verbal and written communication skills, work as an effective team member, and possess a valid Maine Driver’s license and have access to adequately insured vehicle. Must have the ability to work with parents and supervise other personnel. Must have a sincere interest in commitment and ability to the provision of quality programs for children and families.
Individuals applying for an Assistant Teacher or Substitute Assistant Teacher position must submit a resume, application, copies of training courses, and hours to be considered for an interview.
Assistant Teacher:
This individual will be responsible for assisting the Teacher in implementing the classroom program for preschool children.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old and possess a minimum of a High School Diploma/GED, and have completed fifteen (15) hours of Maine Roads to Quality – Core Knowledge Training or equivalent approved training. Must be reliable, conscientious and have an interest in working with young children in a supportive and meaningful manner. Experience in early childhood desirable. Must apply for an Education Technician Certification from the Maine Department of Education within 30 days of employment. A CDA credential or an Associates/Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred. Any individual who is employed in an Infant/Toddler classroom is required to participate in the Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) Training Program and must receive the Infant/Toddler CDA within one (1) year of employment. Must possess a valid Maine Driver’s license and have access to an adequately insured vehicle, if conducting Agency business in a private vehicle.
Substitute Assistant Teacher:
This individual will be responsible for assisting the Teacher in implementing the classroom program for young children.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old and possess a minimum of a High School Diploma/GED, and have completed five (5) hours of Maine Roads to Quality – Core Knowledge Training or equivalent approved training. Must be reliable, conscientious and have an interest in working with young children in a supportive and meaningful manner. Experience in early childhood desirable. Participation in SKCDC’s Classroom Substitute/Volunteer Training Program preferred.
All positions require some lifting (up to 50 lbs.).

Full time regular employees accrue one day of sick leave per month. (Prorated for part-time regular employees).

Full time employees accrue one day of vacation time per month for the first five years. After five years, vacation accrues at the rate of 1 1/2 days per month, and after 10 years, at the rate of two days per month (prorated for part-time).
