Private/Public Partnerships
Private-public partnerships provide a means for the private sector to work together to provide child care solutions. The advantages of partnerships are that they enable a company to: offer enhanced child care services to their employees, promote equity in the delivery of services, target services to areas where their employees live and work, and to provide services in a manner that is more cost effective than working individually.
Child Care Options is a partner in the Alliance for Children’s Care, Education and Supporting Services (ACCESS) (www.accessforme.org). ACCESS is an alliance of early care and education providers and advocates whose mission is to ensure the availability of family focused services through collaborative relationships with traditional and nontraditional partners.
There are eleven regional collaboratives organized throughout Maine. Partners include employers, parents, child care providers, health care professionals, public school administrators, state legislators and senators and Head Start. For more information about the Kennebec/Somerset ACCESS Collaborative, contact Child Care Options.
