Confidentiality Procedure

Child Care Options staff must be honest and truthful.

Confidentiality is important to Child Care Options. Information about clients is not to be shared with anyone the staff knows. Information is to be shared only with staff working with that client. All staff must read and sign the Agency Code of Conduct Policy at the time of hire. Breaking this policy will result in discipline. Discipline can include firing.

Suspicions of abuse or neglect will be reported to the staff’s boss and to the State of Maine Department of Health and Human Services. Staff will follow State of Maine rules.

Child Care Options computers include personal information about staff and clients. These computers are protected by passwords. Passwords are only given out to staff who need them to do their work.

Paper files are kept in locked drawers. Buildings and offices are locked when staff are not in them. Files are kept for three (3) years. After three years files are shredded.
