ChildCare Options, in partnership with the Oregon Environmental Council (OEC), is offering a free voluntary recognition program, Eco-Healthy Child Care (EHCC). The goal of this program is to educate and empower child care providers to reduce the toxins in their child care facilities while encourageing parents to choose 'eco-healthy'. Maine is one of six states that have been invited to participate in piloting the EHSS program nationally. Other states participating in the pilot are California, Washington, Colorado, Massachusetts and Florida. Don't pass up the opportunity to participate in Eco-Healthy Child Care. To be endorsed as an Eco-Healthy Child Care Program, all you need to do is answer 25 questions on a checklist, comply with at least 20 of the 25, complete a form and submit for approval. Operation Military Child Care While families are deployed, finding and paying for child care can be a challenge. Operation Military Child Care can help. It is a Department of Defense (DoD) initiative to support the child care needs ofparents who are activated/deployed. Why is child care needed? When military parents are activated/deployed, their needs for child care often increase and so do their out-of-pocket child care expenses. How does Operation: Military Child Care support activated/deployed parents?
Who is eligible to participate?
Note: The fee assistance program is intended to help support military spouses' employment, education, or special medical circumstances. Fee assistance will only be provided to single military families, dual military families, and military families with a spouse who is working or enrolled in school. It will also be provided to military families where the spouse is looking for work for a period of 60 days. How much will child care fees be reduced? Fee assistance will vary for each family depending upon total family income, location, DoD child care fee policies, and available funding.
