Our Early Childhood Education Programs

Early Head Start

Head Start is a comprehensive child development program for children ages 3-5 whose families are income eligible.

Early Head Start

Early Head Start is a full day, full year program for infants and toddlers that incorporates comprehensive child development services.

Expectant Families

We partner with Kennebec Valley Community Action Program Healthy Families and Maine Parent Federation Parents as Teachers Programs, two community based home visiting programs to offer education and support for expectant parents.

HomeStart

HomeStart combines Head Start and Family Child Care into a full day, full year quality early childhood experience at a minimal cost to families.

Child Care

Child Care is a child development program providing full day services to children of families who are employed or participating in employment training programs.

Child and Adult Care Food Program

Early Care and Education Centers and Family Child Care Homes, sponsored by SKCDC, participate in the USDA/ Child and Adult Care Food Program, providing reimbursement for nutritious meals served to enrolled children. Families of children who attend these programs do not pay for meals. SKCDC sponsors Family Child Care Homes in Kennebec and southern Somerset Counties.

Child Care Options

The Resource Development Center provides child care referrals, information on choosing child care, training and resources for child care professionals, and technical assistance to businesses.

Care for ME

The "Care for ME" program promotes responsible caregiving for children in Maine by identifying in-home/license exempt caregivers who have successfully passed voluntary background checks.
