Early care and education centers and family child care homes, sponsored by SKCDC, participate in the USDA child and Adult Care Food Program, providing nutritious meals for all children. SKCDC is reimbursed for meals served in centers. Family Child Care providers receive payments for meals based on a rate set by the USDA. The provision of nutritious foods contribute to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of young children.
